Drawing a Day

For most people, they might think that interior is always related to enclosed space, inside wall and with ceiling, however the reality is it's not. Interior design can be applied to any space you feel you are in ‘something’ or you’re surrounded with things that makes you feel you're inside it for example this outdoor lounge space. This picture shows that even in outdoor, enclosed only by ceiling and buildings, this space can also refer to interior design with its geometrical ceiling as the focal point of this space

This sketch shows the arrangement of objects that demonstrate beach theme. This drawing is inspired by some references that I combined together to make one refined image that consists the quality of materiality, pattern, texture, as well as lighting. For the background, as you can see, I used flamingos pattern which I thought would matched well with the whole concept. In my opinion, pattern is important as it adds interest and life to interior design and works along with colors, it tells story of its own and adds elements of continuity and smooth transition in a living space.

In here I tried to sketch a student dorm room which possessed a contemporary style of interior. The thing that I like about contemporary style is that it emphasize clean lines and simple shapes. In my opinion, the concept suits best for this kind of room as the area is quite tight so the design, decorative elements as well as furniture have to be kept at minimum but at the same time also act multifunctional for the users.

This is a experimental sketches that I made using some references and research as the inspiration and idea. This is basically a technical concept drawing for a futuristic type of interior.

This drawing is the realization of the technical concept drawing that I made before. I tried to figure out which element, color, material and design went well together and finally able to produce this kind of interior

Same as before, this one I tried experiment with another design concept which is industrialism. As it is an industrial look, raw materials such as exposed bricks, concretes, steels as well as exposed beams are required. For the furniture itself, I came up with an idea to make use of recycled or reused industrial materials and transform it into a new composition of furniture. Besides of its unique style, it is always a good idea to be able to transform unneeded materials into something useful for environment.

This drawing is the realization of the concept drawing above. The exposed bricks and beams, the absence of warm wooden floors, and the metal framing indicate a strong industrial design for this look. However, I also tried to balance the cool look by adding wooden furniture and decoration as well as placing a large leafy potted plants which helps to add a calming natural look to the scheme. As the room was a small space, I wanted to make it looked spacious and expansive by adding large floor-to-ceiling windows to the room in which it also let natural lights in as well as offering beautiful and refreshing view of outdoors. It is a great way to bring outdoors in and gives the room a refreshing and relaxing look.
